Job Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day management of the people and processes. S/he manages both the administrative and talent acquisition tasks on behalf of the company. Relevant responsibilities fall within the following functional areas: recruiting, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.

 

The ideal candidate possesses experience implementing all parts of the recruiting process including job post creation, interviews, salary negotiation, and administrative onboarding. The HR Generalist must be comfortable working independently, navigating tight deadlines, and managing rapidly changing priorities and job needs typical of a startup. The HR Generalist should be patient, flexible, and assertive.


Summary of the Position

  • Ownership of entire recruiting pipeline: create job posts, review resumes for basic qualifications, conduct interviews, negotiate salaries and benefits, answer applicant questions, and onboard new employee
  • Maintain awareness of ongoing business needs and provide recommendations for new relevant job positions
  • Edit & proofread legal and administrative documents
  • Communicate with job applicants and interview candidates
  • Stay up-to-date with recruiting trends, U.S. immigration laws, state employment laws, and federal and state employment tax laws
  • Display positivity and professionalism in all engagements and advocate Petal culture and values
  • Document employee off-onboarding and conduct exit interviews
  • Plan company retreats

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, as well as strong verbal, write, and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding that HR’s primary responsibility is to protect the company and align interests of employees with that of the company
